RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND PLANNING

In urban and rural areas, sustainable management of land and water resources faces a lot of challenges with growing population. A number of land and water related issues are to be considered like soil erosion, land acquisition and resettlement & rehabilitation, dried up water sources, open spaces, urban resources, encroached rivers, transport, mining, forests, forest villages, environment and so on. Studies like Monitoring of Land use change, Land use Planning and Zonation have tremendous impact on proposing alternate solution to improve the environment and livelihood pattern of the local people and incremental overall development.

Livelihood

Services offered by PAN on Socio-Economic issues include Livelihood analysis on different livelihood issues & Sustainable development in Watershed areas, Training Need Assessment and Training on manpower development.

A large number of people in rural areas are engaged in agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, fisheries etc. Livelihood development maintaining ecological balance particularly in rural areas poses a great challenge where PAN plays a big role by understanding the physical resources as well as the human need for providing customized solutions for individual watershed area at village level in a participatory manner involving people into policy-making and sustainable growth process.

Development Planning – Micro & Macro – Urban & Rural Planning

PAN with its strong knowledge base and experience contributes in Development Planning and Micro & Macro level Planning in the field of Urban Planning, Rural Planning, Land Use Planning, Environment Planning giving active and passive support to several local government bodies like Urban Local Bodies (ULB), /Municipalities, Municipal Corporations/ Village bodies or Gram Panchayats, Funding institutions for planning related to infrastructure, capacity building of the Institutions and stakeholders’ capacity building.

A number of development plans (DDPs) prepared by PAN for different urban local bodies (Municipalities) including preparation of urban GIS database emphasizing all-inclusive development were well appreciated.

PAN took active role in studying, making action for slum areas and plan in the GIS platform for Slum Free City Plan of Action (SFCPoA)

Decision Support Tool

Fertilizer Marketing Decision Support Tool is a unique Product of PAN. This CD is a MUST not only for fertilizer companies but also for all Agro-consumable marketing companies to have a feel of the vast Indian rural hinterland. The product is recommended by Fertilizer Association of India-Eastern Region

PAN’s Rural Bank data package can be used by various organizations. It is a unique dynamic map based product. It shows the financial rural bank data and the district information in which these banks are operating. The product was highly appreciated by Reserve Bank of India

PAN’s interactive map displayed in Tourism Fair TTF’2001 acclaimed appreciation from the visitors and WBTDC.

PAN customized and installed GIS based software at West Bengal School Service Commission and Catholic Relief Services. These received huge applaud from the clients’ end.

PAN is always ahead giving needed assistance to the Society. During COVID 19 pandemic PAN studied the situation for XLRI in GIS platform and supported the medical and administrative intervention of the competent authority of Jamshedpur.

Poverty Mapping

PAN took intense initiative in poverty analysis and Mapping in the context of infrastructure, Agro-ecological region and other natural resource factors. PAN supported this World Bank project of Planning Commission, GoI taking the responsibility of close coordination with survey team for the purpose of developing database and was responsible for validation of the survey results with the findings from GIS mapping.

Natural Waste Water Treatment

The need of the hour is indigenous, environment friendly, cost effective community managed water recycling methods. PAN provided solutions on the use of constructed Wetlands to treat domestic water in Oman which is also a viable alternative in India. PAN provides solution based on natural constructed wetland for wastewater treatment

Participatory Planning

PAN gives prime importance to planning at grass root level. PAN uses different user-friendly technology appropriate for rural stakeholders. PAN has developed user friendly software “GRAM VIKAS PARIKRAMA” and their documentation help rural stakeholders to participate in planning process in meaningful way.
